Our client was a citizen of Jamaica. USCIS found that she entered into a marriage with a United States citizen that was primarily to evade the immigration laws. She was placed in removal proceedings in the New York immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza. We represented her during her removal proceedings and convinced the Immigration Judge and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement trial attorney to allow our client to obtain a new green card through her United States citizen daughter even though, under immigration law 204(c), she could have been precluded from taking advantage of the new visa petition.
Our client is now a green card holder.
